Shell and Total told to use biodiesel

T

he Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has obligated two oil companies '€“ Shell and Total '€“ to put at least 10 percent biodiesel in their diesel fuel mix.

The policy is part of the government'€™s program to reduce diesel-based fuel imports.

Energy and Mineral Resources Deputy Minister Susilo Siswoutomo said as quoted by kontan.co.id that state-owned fuel and gas company PT Pertamina had already put 10 percent biodiesel into its diesel fuel mix.

Susilo added that using biodiesel would help the country reduce its imports.

'€œBiodiesel is produced domestically so we do not need to dollars on it,'€ Susilo said.
