On Sept
n Sept. 15, about 15,000 workers in Greater Jakarta took to the streets to demand a 50 percent increase in the 2014 minimum wage. The workers threatened 'if the demands are not fulfilled, we will conduct a national strike in late October'.
President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) Said Iqbal argued that the 50 percent increase was reasonable, particularly due to fast economic growth in Indonesia. He said that Indonesia was a major investment hub.
I believe that the workers' demands are unrealistic. It is impossible to meet their demands because the Indonesian economy is currently a mess with the weakening of the rupiah
