USA DUA: Indonesia officially handed over on Monday the rotating chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum to China, which will host the forum's summit in Beijing next year.
'From this point on, a lot of preparatory work will be got underway,' Yu Ping, the deputy chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), told reporters at a press briefing.
Ping said the business-related meetings would include the APEC CEO Summit; the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) meetings; the APEC China Forum; the APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Summit; the APEC Young Entrepreneurs' Summit, and dialogues between sector ministers and businesspeople.
In order to involve more people from China's business community within APEC, under the initiative of ABAC delegates, the China APEC Business Council would be set up this month, comprising businesspeople in China with global vision, according to Ping.
