awand Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin has ordered Director of CivilAffairs at the ministry, Lilik Sri Haryanto, to report the gratuitymoney he allegedly received related with the notary licenses
issuanceto the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"[I]Have ordered Lilik to report the incident to the KPK," Amir said in hisstatement on Wednesday.

LastFriday, ministry's regional inspector and several auditors investigatea bribery report received by Deputy Minister Denny Indrayana,which accused the process of issuing licenses for notariesin some areas in the country was marred by bribery.

Notarylicenses were issued by the Directorate of Civil Affairs, which isunder the Ministry's Directorate General of Legal Administration.

Theteam found that a staffer within the Directorate had received a brownenvelope containing Rp 95 million from someone to be given to Lilikrelated to the notary licenses issuing process.

Liliklater admitted the incident and told the ministry's investigationteam.

Accordingto Amir, the team found indications of violations during the process. Dennyadmitted such illegal practices might indeed hamper the process.

"Iheard it was indeed pricey for a notary to be stationed in South Jakarta.I heard it cost millions of Rupiah," Denny said.

"Wemust stop such illegal practices. We support any legal action againstthe culprits. Anyone who knows about such practices, please reportthem to us," he added.

Theministry is now studying Lilik's request to step down from his position.(dic)
