The agreement was signed by Indonesian Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto and his counterpart Sandor Fazekas in Budapest on Tuesday (Wednesday Indonesia time) on the sidelines of the 2013 Budapest Water Summit that was opened by Hungarian President Janos Ader and the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
'We will work together to reduce the chemical substances and energy we use in every water and sanitation project,' Djoko said in a statement.
He said the agreement would be effective for five years and could be extended after an evaluation in 2018.
The Budapest Water Summit will be held until Oct. 11 with 1,200 participants from government officials, experts, universities, and private companies engaged in water and sanitation issues.
