n elderly woman has been found dead in her house on Jl. Kelapa Sawit, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang, in what police are treating as a murder case.
The bloodstained body of the victim, named as Ratna Ningsih, 81, was discovered by her daughters on Thursday evening, Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said on Friday.
The police said wounds to the victim's neck and face were consistent with her having been beaten with the sharp end of an iron found at the scene. Rikwanto said that the woman had also been hit with a full water-dispenser container.
He said the police were investigating persons who had access to the house as there was no sign of a forced entrance. 'We will check sellers of food, liquefied petroleum gas and mineral water, as well as anybody who had Ratna's permission to enter her house,' Rikwanto said. 'The house was ransacked and we're still waiting for the family to confirm whether anything was stolen.'
