edestrians along Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Central Jakarta,complained as PT MRT Jakarta started to cut down trees along the road to makeway for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).
'It has been four days since the trees were cut down and it's hotter without the trees,' said Asep, 31, one of the street vendors in front of Ratu Plaza, Central Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com on Thursday.
The contractor has been cutting down trees along Jl. Jend. Sudirman to Jl. Sisingamangaraja from between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
PT MRT Jakarta president director Dono Boestami has promised he would replant the trees after work in the area was completed next year
