he West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Police foiled on Wednesday evening an attempt to send 25 allegedly illegal migrant workers to Saudi Arabia.
NTB Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. M Suryo Saputro said the illegal workers, all of whom were women and came from Lombok and Sumbawa islands, were apprehended at Lembar Port in West Lombok.
'They planned to take a bus and then a ferry to get to Bali before heading to Jakarta. When our officers who were stationed at the port checked their papers, it turned out that they only had their KTPs [national identity cards],' Suryo said on Thursday.
The trip was arranged by a person who is currently being sought by police. 'We are still trying to trace them. They had promised the women employment in Saudi Arabia following training in Condet, Jakarta,' Suryo added.
