entral Sulawesi Police will focus on security in Palu and Poso during the Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations as both regions are prone to terror threats.
Tighter security measures were necessary given that there were 20 terror suspects who were still at large, Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto said on Thursday.
'I have ordered the distribution of the images of the 20 suspects to all police precincts,' Ari said.
He also called on residents to immediately report to police the suspects' whereabouts should they learn of them.
Ari said the Central Sulawesi Police would deploy a total of 2,402 personnel comprising police officers and soldiers to secure the year-end holiday season in an operation named Operasi Lilin.
As many as 68 security and service posts will also be set up across
the province. Ari urged all church managements to install CCTV cameras at each church's entrance gate to assist the monitoring of church premises.
'Most churches and other places of worship in Central Sulawesi have yet to install security cameras. This situation makes it difficult for us to crack a case if something happens at a church,' Ari said.
Meanwhile, head of the Central Sulawesi Anshor Islamic Youth Movement (GP Anshor), Adha Nadjemuddin, said that his organization was ready to help the police secure the province during Christmas and New Year's Eve.
