Suspects named in missing ballots case

he police have named Deli Serdang Elections Commissionchief Muhammad Yusri and secretary Hayat Simatupang as suspects for theiralleged roles in the disappearance of 300 ballots in the rerun of the regentelection in December.

Deli Serdang Police chief Adj. Snr. Comr. Dicky Patrianegara said the suspects were responsible for two missing ballot boxes.

'€œPolice are investigating the case further, hoping it can be brought to court,'€ Dicky said.

Muhammad Yusry revealed he had prepared a legal opinion to reject the accusation that he was responsible for the missing ballots.

'€œThe police and the Election Supervisory Committee [Bawsalu] are responsible for this disappearance as they were supposed to guard the ballots,'€ he said.
