he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) hasconfiscated various assets belonging to former Constitutional Court chiefjustice Akil Mochtar worth nearly Rp 200 billion (US$16.48 million), comprisingland, houses, vehicles and several safety deposit boxes.
'The amount will likely increase as asset tracing is still ongoing,' KPK spokesman Johan Budi said on Tuesday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said most of the assets seized were under different names.
KPK investigators previously seized Rp 100 billion in cash, 33 cars, 31 motorcycles, land and buildings in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, paddy fields in South Singkawang and a plantation in Sukabumi, West Java, that were allegedly owned by Akil.
Akil was arrested at his home in Kuningan, South Jakarta by KPK investigators along with Golkar Party lawmaker Chairun Nisa and businessman Cornelis Nalau over bribery allegations.
