Dhaka worst livable city: EIU survey

Dhaka has ranked as the worst livable city in the world, according to a global study by Economist Intelligence Unit.

The study titled 'livability' was conducted considering some particular characteristics of a place such as its crime levels, threat of conflict, quality of medical care, levels of censorship, temperature, schools and transport links, reports UK-base newspaper The Telegraph.

On a scale of 100, Dhaka earned 38.7 points, the lowest among major cities in the world.

Dhaka was ranked the second worst city for living last year by the same index, with Lagos topping the ranks.

Port Moresby of Papua New Guinea came in second with 38.9 points, followed by Lagos, Nigeria (39.0), Harare, Zimbabwe (39.4), Algiers, Algeria (40.9), Karachi in Pakistan (40.9), Tripoli in Libya (42.8), Douala in Cameroon (43.3), Tehran in Iran (45.8) and Abidjan in Côte d'€™Ivoire (45.9).
