coal mine in Sawahlunto, WestSumatra has reportedly exploded, claiming the lives of one worker while fourothers are missing. The mine belonged to PT Dasrat Sarana Arang Sejati.
The dead victim has been identified as Zulhedi while the four missing victims have been identified as Komaruddin, Munir, Nofrianton and Afan Effendi.
Head of Sawahlunto mining agency Ari Wibawa said the evacuation process was being carried out by the mining rescue team. He said the cause of the explosion was likely the result of a fire sparks met with methane gas.
'We will conduct an investigation after we finish the evacuation process,' he said on Saturday.
This is Dasrat's second coal mine explosion since June 2009, when an explosion claimed the lives of 33 workers.(dic)
