Straight out of Indonesia to Berlin

fter judging films for the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January, Indonesian director Edwin is due in Germany, where he will head the jury for the Berlinale'€™s Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus shorts competitions.

Up for the auteur director'€™s consideration in Berlin is Sepatu Baru (On Stopping the Rain) by Makassar filmmaker Aditya Ahmad, while the documentary Another Colour TV, by videomaker collective The Youngrrr (University of Indonesia students Yovista Ahtajida and Dyantini Adeline), will screen out of competition in the festival'€™s '€œForum Expanded'€ section.

Edwin, a longtime festival favorite for his Babi Buta Yang Ingin Terbang and Postcards from the Zoo, premiered two films in Rotterdam'€™s '€œSpectrum Shorts'€ section: Someone'€™s Wife in the Boat of Someone'€™s Husband and Hortus, an archival exploration voyeurism, colonialism and pornography.
