Two elephant calves at Ragunan Zoo are waiting for Governor Joko âJokowiâ Widodo to give them names
Two elephant calves at Ragunan Zoo are waiting for Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo to give them names.
On Dec. 2, 2013, 25-year-old Sumatran elephant Mulyani gave birth to a female calf, while earlier in October the same year, Mulyani's eldest daughter, Agustin, gave birth to an 80-kg male calf.
'We have given temporary names to the calves, but we are still waiting for the governor to give them permanent names,' Ragunan Zoo spokesman Wahyudi Bambang said recently.
The male and female calves are currently called Okto and Desi, respectively.
Jokowi confirmed that he had already prepared two names for the elephant calves, but declined to give hints. 'I'll unveil the names when I manage to visit Ragunan Zoo. I haven't got the time to visit the zoo, but I will soon,' he told The Jakarta Post.
