A number of public parks in West Jakarta have been damaged due to floodwaters, the municipality reported.
Head of West Jakarta Parks Department, Marfuah, told beritajakarta.com that the damaged parks included Taman Seruni, Taman Kodok, and Taman Puspa in Cengkareng, Taman BTN I and II in Kembangan, Taman Rasa Sayang and Taman Jelambar Madya Barat in Grogol Petamburan, Taman Malioboto in Kalideres and the parks around the Green Garden area of Kebon Jeruk.
Marfuah said the damage was moderate and each park needed an estimated Rp 40 million (US$3,280) to 60 million for repairs. The cause of the damage is most likely due to floodwater stagnating inside the parks for prolonged periods of time, she added.
'Once the water recedes in some of these parks, we will immediately begin restoration,' said Marfuah.
