F

ormer secretary general at the Foreign MinistrySudjadnan Parnohadiningrat has asked the Corruption Eradication Commission(KPK) to allow former president Megawati Soekarnoputri to testify as a witnessin a graft case that has implicated him.

Sudjadnan said that a number of his supporters had contacted Megawati and asked her to be a defense witness.

'€œI just want her to explain how someone like me could become a victim,'€ Sudjadnan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

The anti-graft body has declared Sudjadnan a graft suspect in relation to the organizing of international conferences in 2004 and 2005, which resulted in Rp 18 billion (US$1.47 million) in state losses.

In January, former vice president Jusuf Kalla appeared at the KPK headquarters at the request of Sudjadnan to testify on his behalf.

Kalla said he knew how inter-country conferences organized by Sudjadnan, who is also a former Indonesian ambassador to the US, had benefited the country.
