China rejected US allegations that it is using vague territorial claims to gradually assert control in the disputed South China Sea, and in turn accused Washington of exaggerating tensions in the region.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei urged the US to take a 'rational and fair attitude', and reiterated China's position that its claims are based on history and international law.
In a statement Saturday, Hong said that some US officials' remarks were not constructive and 'playing up tensions' was not conducive to maintaining peace and stability.
Your comments:
As communist China is looking for increasing influence, it is true expansionism.
In the past and even now it is imperialistic. We have to look no further than Tibet and Taiwan.
Let us not kid ourselves, this vile totalitarian government is making grand claims to territories it views as 'Chinese' from any and all periods of time in its history, based on any and all comments found in their libraries, regardless of truth or source.
It is not considered expansionism in their minds. Just simply reacquiring what was once theirs. Keep in mind that this includes all the territories of the 56 'ethnic' Chinese, not just the Han.
It is quite true that the communist China is 'testing the limits'. However, it will not make the mistakes of the past communist regimes with rolling in tanks.
That said, we would do well to remember that this aggressive imperialist authoritarian government is 'increasingly ready to rumble'.

China is expansionist and will look at Indonesia as potential for takeover.
Indonesia should form a strong alliance with the US to improve its long-term prospects of defense against China. The yanks stand by alliances.
