The prosecutors at Mataram District court are seeking a year in prison for an Australian woman charged with drugs consumption.
'The defendant has been found guilty of consuming crystal methamphetamine. Therefore, we demand she be sentenced to a year in prison,' prosecutor Iman Firmansyah said on Thursday.
The woman, identified as 32-year-old Julie Anne Karen Hope, was arrested by the West Lombok Police on Oct. 30, 2013 after she fell from a Harley Davidson motorcycle while touring the Senggigi region of the island. The police found her to be in possession of 0.1 grams of crystal meth and a bong.
Commenting on the prosecutors' request, Hope's lawyer - Edmon Laurens Aipasa - said Hope would prepare her defense statement for the next hearing.
The court is adjourned until next week, when it will hear Hope's defense statement.(dic)
