resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in the next fourdays the government would focus on providing assistance for the Mt. Keluderuption victims. The President indicated his intention to visit theevacuation site within the next three or four days.
'We will focus to provide assistance in the first two days and after that I will visit the evacuation site to see the condition first hand,' he said as quoted by Kompas.com on Friday.
The President said he had been briefed on the thick ash that was falling in the region, closing schools and airports across Central and East Java.
Yudhoyono had also expressed his gratitude toward local residents for following the instructions of local authorities when the volcano erupted Thursday night. So far, no casualties have been reported.(dic)
