team from the Attorney General'€™s Office arrested formerDemak regent Endang Setyaningdah, a fugitive since February 2013, in Semarang,Central Java, on Sunday.

Endang had been found guilty of graft amounting to Rp 2.1 billion (US $179,671) and sentenced to one year in jail and fined Rp 50 million. She was also ordered to reimburse the state the Rp 2.1 billion. However, Endang did not attend any of the court hearings, which resulted in her being named a fugitive as of February 2013.

Central Java Anti-Corruption, Collusion and Nepotism Investigation Committee secretary Eko Haryanto praised the team'€™s work in the arrest of the former Demak regent.

Endang is the former wife of Semarang Mayor Sukawi Sutarip and got her position as Demak regent following Sukawi'€™s appointment as mayor. Their son Yoyok is a member of the Central Java Legislative Council and has reportedly nominated himself as a legislative council candidate in the upcoming election.
