Singapore welcomed a record 15
Singapore welcomed a record 15.5 million visitors last year, up 7.2 percent from 2012, tourism authorities said Monday.
Tourism revenues also hit a new high of Sg$23.5 billion (US$18.7 billion), an increase of 1.6 percent over 2012, the Singapore Tourism Board said, citing preliminary estimates.
Lacking the white-sand beaches and other natural wonders of its bigger neighbors, Singapore offers a wide array of man-made attractions, including two casino resorts and Southeast Asia's first Universal Studios theme park.
It hosts several international conventions and the world's only Formula One night race. Visitors are also drawn to shopping centers and local food, in addition to its low crime rate and reputation for cleanliness
