s many as 113 students of state-run SriwijayaUniversity (Unsri) '€” mostly come from low-income families '€” will likely have toleave university as they cannot afford to pay the tuition fee of Rp 4.5 million(US$378) per semester.

Unsri student association (BEM Unsri) organized a rally on Tuesday, protesting the universal fee applied by the university for all students, regardless of their economic background.

'€œMost of the students come from low income families who could not pay the fee,'€ BEM Unsri chairman Hayrunizar said.

Meanwhile, the university'€™s deputy rector Rochmawati Daud said students should pay the fee on Friday at the latest. '€œWe extended the deadline until Friday. But after that, if they don'€™t pay, they must leave.'€
