he Banten Police have named Governor Ratu Atut Chosiyah's step sister Ratu Lilis Karyawati, who is also head of Golkar Party's Serang branch, a suspect in a graft case.
Banten Police special crime division director Sr. Comr. Wahyu Widada said Lilis was being charged for her alleged involvement in graft connected with the construction of a retaining wall for the Cibinuangeoun River worth Rp 19 billion (US$1.6 million).
According to the police, Rp 3.5 billion had been embezzled in the project.
'We have named her a suspect after questioning two witnesses, namely Dedi Mashudi, an official, and Yayan Suryana, a businessman,' Wahyu said on Wednesday.
Lilis is the third person in the family to be charged in a graft case, following Atut herself and younger brotherTubagus Chaeri "Wawan" Wardana.(dic)
