Supreme Court justice reports mentalist Deddy Corbuzier for defamation

S

upreme Court justice Gayus Lumbuun onWednesday filed a police report against mentalist-cum-presenter Deddy Corbuzierfor running a slanderous report on his television show, Hitam Putih.

Speaking at the National Police headquarters in Jakarta, Gayus said that Hitam Putih, a variety show aired by Trans7, made the first report alleging him of accepting  Rp 700 million (US$60,200) in bribes from singer Julia Perez in return for handing down a three month prison term to singer Dewi Perssik.

Earlier this month, Gayus and two other justices, Artidjo Alkostar and Salman Luthan, found Dewi guilty of fighting with Julia during a movie shoot.

Prior to that, Julia served a three month jail sentence over her involvement in the case.

'€œThat [allegation] is entirely not true, because the cash was never received into my bank account,'€ Gayus said, after filing the report.

'€œAt first, I had not determined which individuals might have been responsible for the defamation. But, after speaking to the police investigators, they pointed out Deddy Corbuzier,'€ he said.

Gayus handed over evidence to the police consisting of Hitam Putih footage and his financial reports.

'€œThe show displayed a money transfer document of Rp 700 million to my bank account. But, according to banking regulations, each account can only transfer a maximum of Rp 100 million per day,'€ he said.

Gayus has also reported the defamation case to the Judicial Commission. (dic)
