An Indonesian identified as Awaludin Sitorus aka Daniel has been arrested by the Brunei authorities due to his alleged role in assisting local militants.
Awaludin was suspected to have provided assistance to local militants to prepare terror attacks. He was also suspected of preparing a safe haven in Brunei for the terrorist cell still affiliated with Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) and the Indonesian Mujahidin Group.
According to kompas.com, Awaludin is also suspected to have channeled funding to terrorist cells.
Awaludin was earlier arrested and brought to court in Indonesia for the church bombing in Medan in early 2000. He was released from prison and travelled to Brunei.
