eligious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali has said thatonly the government has the authority to issue halal certificates and thatbusinesses should not be burdened by certification fees.

'€œCertification should be carried out by the government and it should be free,'€ Suryadharma said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Halal certification is required for three sectors '€” food and beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
