The Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) reported a Rp 220 billion campaign budget to the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Friday.
'The funds are from the party, legislative candidates and third parties,' PDI-P deputy treasurer Rudyanto Tjen said as quoted by kompas.com.
He acknowledged there had been an additional Rp 90 billion from the party's first report in December last year. The PDI-P reported Rp 130 billion in last year's report.
He said he was still in the middle of asking for the same reports from the party's 44 legislative candidates. He promised the data would be reported immediately.
The KPU has set March 2 as the deadline for all political parties to report their campaign budgets. Should any party fail to do so, the KPU will then cancel the installation of legislative candidates from the failing party.
The regulation was introduced to respond to political parties' lack of transparency in managing their funds.(dic)
