The agency said that the relocation was due to the police's effortsto uncover a regional terrorism network.
Head of the East Java Justice and Human Rights Agency's correctional facilities division I Dewa Putu Gede said Umar had arrived in Sidoarjo in the custody of the police's elite counterterrorism detachment Densus 88.
Umar was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in several terrorist attacks in the country, including the Bali bombings in 2002 and church bombings in 2001.Umar was widely acclaimed as being among the most influential terrorist figures within the Jamaah Islamiah network.
He was arrested in Abbotabad, Pakistan in January 2011, four months before US Navy special forces shot dead Al Qaeda's patron Osama Bin Laden in his hideout in the town.(dic)
