 KIA launches new SUV to capture RI market

he marketing arm of South Korean car maker KIA Motors Corp, PT KIA Motor Indonesia (KMI), launched on Wednesday a brand new sports utility vehicle (SUV), the KIA New Sportage, to capture the growing demand for SUVs in Indonesia.

KMI marketing manager Hartanto Sukmono Hartanto said that they would market four types of KIA New Sportage nationwide from the Rp 305 million (US$26,230) LX Manual tupe to Rp 418 million for the Platinum type.

"The cars are available from our dealers," Sukmono said in Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said that the new Sportage was a fuel efficient vehicle and it did not give off a lot of emissions.

"That is the fundamental change to our Sportage that we launched today," he added.

The new car is built with Nu 2.0 Dual-Continuous Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) machine with a maximum power of 158 power steering (ps) in 6,500 rotation per minute (rpm) with torque 19.6 kilogram per meter (kgm) in 4,000 rpm.

He said that this was KIA's new generation. (nfo)
