rosperousJustice Party (PKS) deputy secretary-general Fahri Hamzah said on Wednesdaythat the Islamic-based party should take the role of opposition in the next governingperiod, as the coalition system had been disappointing.
'Igive up. As a politician I know that my rights were robbed by the so-called'coalition'. We [the PKS] should be a party of opposition in the next period,' hesaid in Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com.
Hesaid his view had been responded to positively by some of the party'sexecutives and members. However, he wanted the PKS to be a party of opposition soit could criticize the government's policies, which he said were not beneficialto the people.
'We'll waitfor the next five years. We will oppose the government,' he said adding thatthe party was ready to launch strong criticism of the government.
Fahrialso said the PKS would not rush to decide to take part in any coalition. Theparty, which wants to build a coalition with the PKS, he said, should have asimilar vision and mission to build the government.
'Theimportant thing is the context. What do they want? We will challenge them[coalition members] to talk openly to the public,' he said. (idb)
