Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyatno said six people had been questioned in relation to the Senen market fire.
He said the police were trying to gather information and evidence to establish what had caused the fire.
'We're trying to gather information on the origin of the fire. We're questioning six people,' he said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said the evidence gathered by both the police forensic unit and the fire brigade would be further examined by the police forensic laboratory.
'The lab result will define the cause, whether it originated from a short circuit or something else,' he said.
The fire gutted approximately 3,000 kiosks at Senen market in Friday morning. As many as 46 fire trucks struggled to extinguish the fire for more than seven hours. (put/dic)
