Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the hand over of situ and river restorations to the government of Bekasi regency, Bekasi city, Tangerang regency and Tangerang city on May 7, 2014, in Situ Cipicung, Bogor regency.

The event is part of the 22nd World Water Day celebration that falls every March 22. This year the theme is "Water and energy".

The Public Works Ministry also held other activities to commemorate this year's World Water Day such as filling the Jatibarang dam in Semarang, Central Java on May 5; inaugurating Siphon in Bekasi, West Java; groundbreaking Bendung Jabung in Lampung and Bendung Randangan in Gorontalo on May 6, socializing Care for Water campaign; and organizing a sarasehan (forum) and exhibition on May 8-10. The ministry also encourage all citizens to join in and participate in these activities.
