ublicly listed PT Midi Utama Indonesia (MIDI), the operator of Alfamidi,Alfaexpress mini markets and Lawson convenience stores, made Rp 4.96 trillion(US$) in net profit in 2013, a 28.8 percent increase from 2012's Rp 3.85trillion profit.
"Comprehensive income increased by 49.6 percent from Rp 45 billion in2012, to Rp 67.33 billion in 2013," PT MIDI finance director Suantopo Potold reporters in Tangerang onWednesday.
The company has been striving to increase efficiency after increases in minimumwages and interest rates in 2013.
PT MIDI gained a net profit of Rp 1.28 trillion in the first quarter of thisyear, which is a 19 percent increase from the Rp 1.08 trillion gained in thesame period last year. It also earned Rp
7.31 billion in comprehensive income in the first quarter of this year, a 224percent increase from the Rp 2.25 billion earned in the first quarter of 2013.
Furthermore, Suantopo said that the company had increased the number of outletsin various locations from 652 outlets in 2012, to 719 in 2013.
"Our company is committed to improving services by providing a one-stopshopping concept. Apart from selling food products, we will also offer avariety of services in which people can buy train tickets, airline tickets, payelectricity bills, make motorbike installments, and so forth," he said.(fss/dic)
