Pharmaceutical manufacturers have asked the government to provide more incentives to boost the upstream pharmaceutical industry to lessen their reliance on imports.

Your comments:

I'€™m in total agreement. It'€™s very easy because Indonesia has a '€œcaptive'€ market of potentially 230 million people.

The way forward is to build a brand name, a trusted name that means, to the consumer, honesty and reliability.

Unfortunately, government officials will insist on '€œhelping'€ these companies and the additional cost bites into their margins! Indonesia is killing its own businesses because of this corruption! If the government wants to do something for our home grown businesses, start with '€œformalin'€ (formaldehyde). Its use is so widespread. People are dying every day when accumulation exceeds the body'€™s ability to deal with it.

Take away PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara'€™s (PLN) monopoly so that alternative electricity providers can prompt the development of refrigeration and eliminate the use of formalin. Then try and wipe out small scale corruption, which plagues various industries.
