ulf carrier Etihad Airways recently announced its latest project, a luxury air apartment called The Residence that will be constructed on the upper deck of its A380 plane and Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane. The apartment is currently under construction and will commence operation on Dec. 27.

The first section of the A380 will be dubbed '€œFirst Apartments'€, featuring private suites with a reclining lounge seat, mini-bar and wardrobe, to name a few features. There will also be studio-typed apartments.

The apartment unit can accomodate two people, and is equipped with a guestroom, bedroom, bathroom, and will be maintained by a private servant trained by the Savoy Butler Academy in London.

Etihad also provides a prayer room for Muslims equipped with a kiblat (prayer direction) pointer that adjusts itself to airplanes'€™ geographic position.

Etihad Airways CEO James Hogaan said that by installing the air apartment, the airline company sought to improve its service of excellence.

'€œWe want our passengers to get an unforgettable experience of flying with us,'€ he said.

To enjoy the air apartment, passengers must pay US$20,000 for one flight from Abu Dhabi to London, New York, Melbourne or Sydney.
