JAKARTA: Actor Butet Kertaredjasa has received an award from the Jakarta Arts Institute (IKJ) for his contribution to Indonesian acting.
The IKJ also presented awards to Happy Salma for best actress, Dedi Setiadi for best director and a lifetime achievement award to author and screenwriter Putu Wijaya.
'I hope the judges were not suffering concussion when they decided to give me this award,' Butet said as quoted by tempo.co during his speech at the award ceremony at the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) arts center.
The 52-year-old said he dedicated his award to Yogyakarta, the city that nurtured his creativity.
'This award should be a symbol of an end to the artistic psychological tension between Yogyakarta and Jakarta,' he said.
IKJ awards were also presented to art critic Seno Joko Suyono and the Salihara Community art institute.
