Telkom won two Gold category awards and one Silver category award at the event.
State-owned telecommunications operator PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom) has won awards at the First Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards held in Seoul, South Korea, on May 30.
Telkom received this year's Gold category awards for 'Technology Company of The Year' and 'New Business Service of The Year' as well as a Silver category award for 'Customer Service of The Year'. For these accomplishments, the company also won the event's highest achievement called the Grand Stevie Award.
"Our achievement in winning the Grand Stevie Award is solid proof of the hard work we have done so far as well as international recognition for our performance and prospects in the future," said Telkom Enterprise and Business Service Director Muhammad Awaluddin during The First Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards event in South Korea on May 30.
Attended by high-profile business people from the Asia Pacific region, the Grand Stevie Awards are only given to five companies from five Asia Pacific countries that are considered to have shown an awesome performance and have had a high impact on their countries' economies.
The success in winning the Grand Stevie Award continues Telkom's rise as one of the most influential companies in Asia Pacific.
Initiated by The International Business Awards (IBA) based in Virginia in the United States, the Stevie Awards is an international event that gives awards in business.
According to Awaluddin, Telkom has consistently recorded good results from year-to-year since being listed in the Indonesian Stock Exchange, New York Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, which require companies to apply good corporate governance.
Last year, the company's stock performance grew by 18.8% to Rp 2,150 (19 US cents) per share at year-end. In addition to that, Telkom's market capitalization has also risen to Rp 216.7 billion; claiming the fourth-biggest spot on the Indonesian exchange at the end of 2013.
For this year, Telkom has set targets to sustainably grow by double digits. It will stay focused on three growth engines through three main programs: strengthening its cellular business through Telkomsel, strengthening its broadband business through the Indonesia Digital Network (IDN) 2013 program and expanding its business outside the country through its international expansion program.
