The rupiah slipped on Thursday morning by four points to 11,864 per US dollar, down from its previous level of 11,860 per dollar.
Monex Investindo Futures analyst Zulfirman Basir said the dollar continued to strengthen following the announcement by one of the US Federal Reserve's senior officials that quantitative easing would end in October.
He said conditions had created positive sentiment to the US dollar in the domestic market, in addition to the fact that Indonesia had not recorded good economic data, Antara news agency reported.
On the other hand, the strengthening of the dollar was triggered by investors who anticipated the possibility that the European Central Bank would tighten its monetary policy. (nfo)
