Prabowo vows to fight corruption, protect national assets

he presidential candidate from the Gerindra Party, PrabowoSubianto, said on the campaign trail on Wednesday that he would go all out to fight the corruptand those who dared to sell national assets to foreigners.
'I'm not afraid to tell all of you who just want to rob the people's money and make the country even poorer,' Prabowo told a mass gathering held in Medan, North Sumatra, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Prabowo said he disliked 'pretenders' who only acted to win popularity.
The former Army Special Forces (Kopassus) commander also praised his coalition fellow members and said they 'could not be bought', while promoting his tough stance on corruption.
However, he reacted differently when one of his coalition members, former religious affairs minister Suryadharma Ali, was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in an alleged case of graft involving the organizing of haj trips.
Instead of supporting the KPK, Prabowo told KPK leaders to think twice about Suryadharma's suspect status. (gda/dic)
