The Jakarta International School (JIS) will file a lawsuit against the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) for defamation.
Harry Ponto, JIS' legal representative, said during a press conference at Hotel Sultan in Jakarta that the KPAI's duty was to the children.
However, Harry said, the KPAI had mistaken its advocacy role.
'KPAI said that there were JIS teachers 'indicated' to have sexually assaulted kindergarten pupils. They also mentioned the number of teachers reported to the police,' Harry said during a press conference on Monday.
Your comments:
JIS parents should be glad that the parents of the first victim came forward to file the lawsuit.
If the parents hadn't done so, the school wouldn't be taking this case as seriously and wouldn't be taking as many steps to ensure that it doesn't happen again.
As JIS is filing a lawsuit against the KPAI, will it also file a lawsuit against the first victim for defamation?

I agree that the school has to admit its negligence as well as be supportive of the investigation into finding the perpetrators.

The most important thing is that whoever failed to report the crime and whoever committed it are captured.
JIS should start owning up to its mistakes and not cover this up.
Just help the police get these rats and get them out of the school and put them in jail instead of denying four of their teachers are alleged perpetrators.
Justice
It is for good reason that in many types of criminal cases in advanced jurisdictions the presumption of guilt until proven innocent is standard instead of the other way round.
The alleged sexual assaults happened on school grounds in school hours.
If proven correct, JIS as the organization to whom the parents bestowed custody of their children, is the primary criminal, as proven by precedents of similar cases in the UK, the US and Scandinavia.
Joy
Even if we don't know the identity of the teachers, they will have listed JIS as the previous school that hired them on their CVs.
If they are innocent and they want to work at another school in a different country, the school will have to check their previous employment. And when the school knows the teachers worked at JIS, won't the school ask the teachers about the rape?
Will the school just accept that the teachers are innocent and hire them or will it not take the risk? If the school decides to hire the teachers, will there be a guarantee that the parents of the school's students do not question why that school hired teachers who previously worked at JIS? (Assuming the parents know about the JIS rape case).
How will the teachers get their reputations back if they are innocent?
