he Mejayan Prosecutors Office has declared an official and a businessman graft suspects in the procurement of medical equipment for the Madiun Health Agency in East Java worth Rp 4.5 billion (US$375,000).
Mejayan Prosecutors Office head Andi said the official at the Health Agency, identified as AS, and the businessman, identified as DC, were involved in a tender for healthcare equipment for the Dolopo General Hospital.
'The decision to name them suspects was made two weeks ago. They marked up the prices,' Andi said.
She said her office was still calculating the state losses caused by the graft.
Andi added that the suspects were being charged under Article 2 of the Corruption Law, which carried a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
