wenty additional security cameras have been installed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, increasing the security of passengers traveling home for Idul Fitri.
State-owned airport management company PT Angkasa Pura II senior general manager Bram Bharoto Tjiptadi said that before the installation of the additional cameras, the airport had 884 cameras, according to tribunnews.com.
Further, most of the new security cameras were installed at the airport's terminals.
"There is a lot of potential crime that we should be more aware of in the days before Idul Fitri. For example, people should be more aware of bags being stolen or of passengers being drugged. We installed the cameras to prevent and react quickly to such cases," he said.
PT Angkasa Pura II predicts around 284 million people will travel through Soekarno-Hatta for Idul Fitri this year.
This means the number of people will increase by 7.11 percent from 2.65 million people in 2013. (fss)
