he Surakarta Police have deployed 300personnel to secure president-elect and Jakarta Governor Joko"Jokowi" Widodo's house in Surakarta, Central Java, while he is in town.
"We will enforce maximum security and deploy 300 officers. When Jokowi returns to Surakarta, security personnel will be divided into two teams," Surakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. Iriansyah said on Friday, according to tribunnews.com.
Iriansyah added that the National Police were still responsible for Jokowi's security before he is officially inaugurated on Oct. 20.
Although Jokowi was known for not wanting an over the top security force, Iriansyah said, it was the duty of the police to keep the president-elect safe.
"We will increase his security detail as required," he said.
Jokowi and his family departed for Surakarta on Friday on an Air Asia flight from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport. He is slated to spend three days in his hometown before returning to Jakarta to observe Idul Fitri.(fss)
