resident-elect and Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, along with his wife Iriana Widodo, received hundreds of people from various backgrounds at his official residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on the first day of Idul Fitri on Monday.

Prominent figures, such as Jokowi's presidential running mate Jusuf Kalla, Hanura Party chairman Wiranto, Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) chairman Sofjan Wanandi, business tycoons Mahmud and Erwin Aksa, as well as entrepreneurs such as Tanri Abeng and Mooryati Soedibyo, attended the gathering.

Other people who attended the gathering were Jokowi's neighbors, volunteers, Catholic nuns, as well as poor and disabled people.

"I pay a visit here [Jokowi's official residence] as a form of hospitality at Idul Fitri. This is my first visit today," Kalla said after the meeting.

On Monday, Jokowi and his family spent the first day of Idul Fitri in Jakarta, where he held an Idul Fitri prayer event and an open house at City Hall along with the Jakarta government working units, leaders of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) and nearby communities.

Afterward, Jokowi was scheduled to visit Megawati Soekarnoputri, chairwoman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), at her residence on Jl.Teuku Umar in Menteng, Central Jakarta. (gda)
