Wahyudi, head of Kuala Kapuas Port administration, said the boat was overloaded. "At least 10 died and eight are missing. The 15 motorcycles were lost," he said as quoted by tribunnews.com on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, however, the death toll rose to 12, with six still missing. They have been identified as Siti Fatimah, 33; Syahrani, 22; M. Gonim, 16; Syahroji (age unknown); Mursidah, 9, and Marita, 26.
At least 42 passengers survived, some of whom were rushed to Soemarno General Hospital for medical treatment. (hhr)
