heNational Police have announced that 400 people have died in traffic accidentsnationwide during this year'€™s Idul Fitri holiday from July 22 to 30.

National Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Agus Rianto said on Thursday that the number had decreased compared to last year, according to tribunnews.com.

"The number of people killed in these accidents has decreased by 15 percent from the same period last year," he said.

Last year, Agus said, 471 people had died in traffic accidents during the nine days people traveled home last year.

Further, this year there were 638 people who experienced major injuries and 2332 people who sustained minor injuries in accidents. In total, there were 1817 accidents recorded.

"The number of accidents decreased by 14 percent compared to last year. There were 2095 accidents in 2013 and 1871 accidents in 2014," he said. (fss)
