ogyakarta Traffic Police head Sr. Comr Nasri Wiharto said four people haddied and 40 were injured in 24 traffic accidents in Yogyakarta province duringthis year's Idul Fitri holiday.
'We have received reports that four people died in road accidents,' he said on Friday.
No information on the victims was available.
He said most of the accidents were caused by indisciplined driving and drowsiness.
'We have been tirelessly warning drivers to be very cautious when driving,' he said.
Approximately 20.1 million people traveled to their hometowns in various regions, mostly in Java, for Idul Fitri this year. The annual exodus saw traffic congestion in many regions across Java.
According to Yogyakarta Police data, the number of travelers leaving the city would reach its peak on Saturday and Sunday.(dic)
