JAKARTA: Veteran director Yazman Yazid died on Tuesday morning at the age of 62; he was buried at Tanah Kusir Cemetery around noon on the same day.
Yazman, who was born in Batusangkar, West Sumatra, began his film career by writing the screenplay for legendary actor Bing Slamet in his movie Setan Djalanan (Street Devil) when he was 20 years old.
The director began to be noticed after directing Tangan-tangan Mungil (Small Hands) in 1981. He continued directing dramas and comedies in the following years with Darah dan Mahkota Ronggeng (Ronggeng's Blood and Crown), Pernikahan Dini (Young Marriage), Kanan Kiri Oke (Left Right OK) and Lenong Rumpi (Gossip and Sketch Comedy).
