Bali to host Indonesian Coffee Festival

he Trade Ministry is set to hold the Indonesian Coffee Festival at Prama Sanur Beach, Bali in October to help strengthen the country's position as a coffee producer.

The festival, to be held on Oct. 17-19, will feature coffee plantations, roasters, brewers, coffee machines, cafe brands, coffee utensils, coffee bars, coffee merchandising and a coffee spa aimed at attracting those interested in developing ventures in the spa and wellness industry.

"This festival is going to be an international event to promote Indonesian coffee. Every stakeholder in the country is committed to making Indonesia the world's coffee hub," Trade Deputy Minister Bayu Krisnamurthi said in Jakarta as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.

He said that the three-day festival would not only aim to get businesspeople to buy local coffee products but to also pamper every coffee aficionado who wanted to enjoy local coffees.

The ministry has set a target to attract 100 international coffee buyers, namely from the US, Germany, France, Japan, Italy, Spain, Canada, Belgium, the UK, and the Netherlands.

In addition, as many as 7,500 people, both foreign and domestic tourists, are expected to visit the coffee festival.

"We will also conduct a roasting workshop, brewing workshop and visit a coffee plantation in Kintamani," he added.

To put on the festival , the ministry has collaborated with the Tourism and Creative Industry Ministry, Agriculture Ministry, Industry Ministry, Indonesian Specialty Coffee Association (AKSI), Indonesian Coffee Exporters Association (AEKI), Indonesian Coffee Exporters Union (GAEKI) and Indonesian Luwak Coffee Association (AKLI).
